Once branches are safely on the ground, a wood chipper can process leafy material and smaller timber into woodchip. That dramatically reduces the volume of green waste that needs to be handled and transported.

Operators also need to be trained and competent, and boom-type EWPs of 11 metres or more require the appropriate high-risk work licence.

Some trees cannot be reached effectively by machinery. Arborist climbing systems allow trained tree workers to move through the canopy while remaining attached to appropriate climbing systems.
